Australian Unity Assisted Living Project
Undergraduate and Postgraduate students were given a unique opportunity to hone their journalism and media skills this year by collaborating with Australian Unity Assisted Living.
Australian Unity Assisted Living provides high quality care for people who can no longer live independently. The organisation was looking for ways to acknowledge the interesting life stories that their residents were sometimes hiding. Swinburne students were asked to come and interview the residents and write or film profiles that acknowledged the residents’ distinct personalities.
Both students and residents had a great time meeting each other, sharing stories and making great profiles that the residents’ families can keep forever. The students learnt valuable interviewing skills and completed fantastic profiles. The project will continue in 2016.
