The Australian Council for Educational Research is currently offering a Semester 1 internship for a Media and Communication student to support the Principal For A Day® (PFAD) program.

About the program

Principal For A Day® aims to increase understanding and awareness between schools, business and the wider community; and provide business and community leaders with firsthand and current experiences of schools. PFAD commenced in Australia in 2001 and has been managed by ACER since 2006. It is currently operating in Victorian schools through support from the Department of Education and Training (DET). The program will place community and business leaders with a school principal on August 11 2016.

The successful applicant will provide support to the current program manager as directed, and will include:

Responding to email queries and providing information about the program

Researching and communicating with prospective business networks and individuals

Proofreading and editing of program materials

The intern will get the opportunity to:

Contribute to the development of a communications plan, including social media

Be involved in the ongoing development of the PFAD strategic plan

Draft media releases with the assistance of Corporate Communications

Work at a global research education organisation that provides a friendly, supportive and flexible working environment.

The intern will need to:

Have excellent spelling and grammar

Have high level communication skills

Enjoy networking and connecting with people

Commitment

The position would involve a total of 10-20 days starting week beginning March 28 and ending week beginning 23 May. It is envisaged that the successful applicant will work a minimum one day per week in the ACER office in Camberwell (on Camberwell station). There may be scope to complete further day/s off-site.
