Lisa Gye is a Senior Lecturer in Media and Communications. She began her career at Swinburne in the early 90s teaching radio production and criticism. An early adopter, Lisa quickly jumped on board when web publishing began, sensing the Internet’s potential to be an accessible, democratic platform for media activism and knowledge sharing. She has since developed skills across a range of media production platforms and combines this with a critical engagement with all forms of media and mediation and their role in creating a more just, sustainable society.
Lisa’s scholarly work engages with media art, media activism, tactical media, remix cultures and, more recently, the poetics and politics of space. She is the co-editor, with Darren Tofts, of Illogic of sense: the Gregory L. Ulmer remix (Alt-X Press, 2007). Darren and Lisa have also collaborated on several remix projects including Classical Gas (2011 – ongoing) and The Secret Gestural Prehistory of Mobile Devices (2010 – ongoing).
